2007 Local Event Description Registration Form

Hundreds of volunteers across the watershed come out on the third Saturday in September to give the river a hand after enjoying its beauty all summer along. Clinton Clean-Up was launched November  2001 with a clean-up at Bloomer Park and the Detroit Sportsmen's Congress in Rochester Hills and Shelby Township. In 2006, clean-ups took place at fifteen sites around the watershed. Please view the 2007 events listed below! For additional information, please contact 248-601-0606 or email educator@crwc.org.

Clinton Clean-Up volunteers should be wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Bring a small backpack with items such as bug spray, sunscreen, a bottle of water, and snacks. Volunteers are not required to enter the water. Please be prepared to sign a liability form for yourself or children.

2007 CLINTON CLEAN UP EVENT LIST: Saturday, September 15th

1. Beaudette Park in Pontiac, Stewardship Day: Join NTH Consultants, Ltd. in collecting debris along the riverbanks and Clinton River Trail from 8:30 am -noon. Meet at the Orchard Lake entrance, East of Telegraph. (turn north by the tracks, east of Home Depot).  Register with David Anthony at 248.324.5274.

2. Drayton Plains Nature Center Stewardship Day in Waterford Township: Help remove non-native invasive plants along the river, clean up debris and haul brush to assist with the restoration of the Nature Center.  From 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.  Bring a bag lunch, beverages will be provided.  REGISTRATION REQUIRED.  Contact Heather Huffstutler at the Oakland Land Conservancy 248-601-2816 or email hhuffstutler@oaklandlandconservancy.org for information and directions.

3. North Clinton River Clean Up in Romeo:  Join Ford Romeo Engine Plant Employees from 8:30 am – Noon.  Meet at the VFW parking lot on McVicar Road and head out to remove debris from the banks of North Clinton River, Coon Creek and East Pond Creek. 4. Macomb County Public Works: REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR ALL SITES
Events will be from 9am-noon, continental breakfast provided.  Contact: Barb Saile at 586.469.5337 or email barb.saile@macombcounty.mi.gov

a. Crittenden Drain at Fox Elementary School, Macomb Township                             b. Sweeney Drain at Steffens Park, City of Fraser                                                        c. Middle Branch of the Clinton at Rivergate sub., Clinton Township

5. River Woods Park in Auburn Hills: Join Phi Theta Kappa from O.C.C. Auburn Hills from 10:00 am - Noon and clean up the streambanks and park area.  Meet in the parking lot. Contact Sarah Lemelin at 248.417.7852 or email srlemeli@oaklandcc.edu.

6. St. Clair Shores Adopt- A-Highway:  Join St. Clair Shores Waterfront Advisory Committee in an effort to clear debris and prevent pollution from entering Lake St. Clair through storm drains at entrance/exit ramps. Meet at northeast corner of I-94 and 10 Mile Road at 10:00 am sharp. Contact Erin Stahl at (586) 774-8181 to volunteer and register.

7. Sterling Heights: Dodge Park- Join annual host REI along with Starbucks Coffee Company in a UNIQUE opportunity to clean up Dodge Park and northern trailways along the Clinton River. Starbucks will donate $10/hour (up to $1000) to the Clinton River Watershed Council for each volunteer hour.  Registration begins at 8:30 am, clean up from 9 am-Noon at 40620 Utica Road.  Contact Amanda Paniccia at 586.215.9291 or amandapaniccia@yahoo.com

8. Waterford: Cooley Land & Cass Elizabeth Rd: Join local residents and clean up streambanks from 9:00am - Noon.  Meet at Haviland Elementary parking lot at 5305 Cass Elizabeth Rd., Waterford.  Be prepared to GET DIRTY!  Global Communique t-shirts go to first arrivals. Contact jill@crwc.org
