Volunteer Opportunities

Are you looking for something valuable to do with your time-once a week or even once a month? Then CRWC may have an opportunity for you. Volunteers are vital to the success and continued growth of our many education, stewardship and watershed management programs.

Listed below are few of the important volunteer opportunities available at CRWC:

Adopt-a-Stream Volunteer

CRWC runs a volunteer stream monitoring program. We have over 100 volunteers monitoring stream, river and drain sites across the watershed and will be training another 50-100 volunteers this year. We are looking for someone who can help with the "behind the scenes" work required to make this program a success. (Visit www.crwc.org and click on "Adopt-a-Stream Volunteer Monitoring Program" for details on this program.)

Tasks include, photocopying materials for volunteer trainings, registering volunteers for training sessions, inventorying and re-stocking monitoring equipment, delivering monitoring equipment to host sites twice a year, calling Stream Team coordinators as needed to verify monitoring or participation information, assistance with organizing annual Adopt-a-Stream forum, updating Adopt-a-Stream web pages, assisting with data entry and more.

A volunteer can sign up for one or more of the tasks listed above depending on hours available, interests and skills. At least four hours a month is desired per volunteer. Would be interested in one or more volunteers helping with the program at least once a week.

News Volunteer
Do you read one or more newspapers everyday? If so, we may have an opportunity for you! CRWC is looking for people who are willing to scan community, county and regional newspapers for articles on CRWC programs and water quality issues relevant to our watershed. If you see an article, please mail it to us or drop it off at our office. CRWC maintains a file of newspaper articles on CRWC activities and other water quality related topics that take place in the Clinton River Watershed. We need help locating these articles and clipping and filing them. If you read a local or regional paper regularly, we need you. We could also use your help copying some of these articles and laminating them for displays.

Clinton Clean Up Volunteer

Clinton River Coldwater Project Volunteer
Get involved in projects that enhance and create trout habitat-in stream and streamside!

Office Volunteer
Our office often sends out mailings to members, volunteers and other specific audiences. We could use someone on an “as needed” basis who would be willing to come in to our office and help label, stamp and seal some of our mailings. Familiarity with the MS Word Mail Merge tool is also useful.

Other possible volunteer opportunities include data entry for our Adopt-a-Stream and Stream Leaders programs, web design and assistance at special events.

Public Education Volunteer
CRWC is now offering many free workshops and presentations each month on a variety of water quality topics across the watershed. If you would like to support our workshop efforts, we could use someone at least once a month who is willing to come in our office and help prepare folders for our workshop attendees. This opportunity would involve photocopying many handouts and brochures and stuffing them into folders for workshop participants. We could also use someone who can help keep our free resources area stocked with many of the same resources for residents or businesses that call or stop by for information on specific topics.

River Day Volunteer

Other Volunteer Opportunities
Other possible volunteer opportunities include data entry for our Adopt-a-Stream and Stream Leaders programs, web design and assistance at special events.

If you would like to learn more about one of these volunteer opportunities, please call our office and ask to speak with Ruth Glass. We'll find out what your availability, interests and skills are and plan an in-person meeting with you to find out if one of these opportunities is right for you.
