FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 5, 2004 Contact: Dan Keifer Rebecca Humphries, Director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), will join water resource advocates from across southeast Michigan at the Clinton River Watershed Council’s (CRWC) sixth annual Preservation Celebration on Thursday, October 21, 2004 from 5:00 9:30 pm at the Pontiac Marriott at Centerpoint. This elegant evening event benefits CRWC's watershed management, education and stewardship programs and is an opportunity to celebrate the commitment of a diverse group of public and private stakeholders in cooperative efforts to protect the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair. CRWC is honored to welcome Ms. Humphries and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in celebration of our joint efforts to protect, enhance and celebrate the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair. The MDNR is a key partner and supporter in CRWC’s Clinton River Coldwater Conservation Project, a cooperative effort to restore and enhance the trout fishery in the Clinton River and its tributaries. In addition, the MDNR oversees some of our watershed's most unique natural areas, including Bald Mountain State Recreation Area in Oakland County and W.C. Wetzel State Park in Macomb County. A highlight of the Preservation Celebration is the silent auction, which features river-themed items such as artwork, nature outings, river and lake cruises, and outdoor equipment. Tickets to the Preservation Celebration are $125 each. Sponsorships are available for $1,500, which includes a table of 10 and a sponsor recognition package. The event’s major underwriter is General Motors. For tickets and additional information, call 248-601-0606, e-mail contact@crwc.org, or visit CRWC's website at www.crwc.org. More than 1.4 million people live in the Clinton River watershed, making it the most populous watershed in Michigan. The river basin encompasses 760 square miles across 60 communities and 4 counties (Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland and St. Clair). CRWC engages in watershed management, education and stewardship activities to protect, enhance and celebrate the Clinton River, its watershed and Lake St. Clair. The council's membership spans a broad array of stakeholders, including hundreds of individuals and community groups, dozens of local businesses, and more than 40 local governments. Last updated |
