Watershed Planning & Stormwater Management
- Watershed Planning Update
Each subwatershed in the Clinton River Watershed is working on a watershed management plan to help meet the stormwater permiting requirements of its municipalities. Visit this page to learn the latest happenings related to the subwatershed planning efforts.
- Clinton River Subwatersheds
Check out our new subwatershed pages! We'll soon be adding subwatershed management updates and related information for each subwatershed.
- Southeast Michigan Phase II Stormwater Information Clearinghouse
Communities across Southeast Michigan must comply with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II stormwater regulations, which went into effect in March 2003. CRWC is working with communities across the watershed to help meet these requirements. CRWC has partnered with the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments to create a central clearinghouse for information about the stormwater permit requirements.
- Stony Creek Subwatershed Plan
CRWC received a grant from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to develop a watershed management plan for the Stony Creek watershed. The plan establishes a vision for the long-term protection of Stony Creek. Follow the link to learn more and download the plan documents.
- Bear Creek Restoration Project
Bear Creek is an urban stream linking the cities of Madison Heights, Warren, Hazel Park, and Center Line in the southern portion of the Clinton River watershed. CRWC received several grants from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to develop and implement a watershed management plan with these communities. Check out the latest monitoring data for Bear Creek at www.bearcreeknews.com (Sponsored by Macomb County Office of Public Works and Oakland County Drain Commissioner's Office).
- May 2004 Flooding Report
Check out the statistics and photos from the record rainfall that hit the Clinton River watershed at the end of May.
Wetlands Protection
- Stony Creek Wetlands Assessment Project
CRWC received a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to survey wetland functions in the Stony Creek watershed and assist local governments and landowners with their wetland protection and restoration efforts.
Clinton River Area of Concern
- Clinton River Area of Concern Remedial Action Plan & Public Advisory Council
The Clinton River watershed is a designated Area of Concern under the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement between the United States and Canada. Under this agreement, Remedial Action Plans must be developed and implemented to restore Areas of Concern across the Great Lakes. CRWC provides support for the Clinton River Public Advisory Council, which is responsible for the development and updating of the Clinton River Remedial Action Plan.
Clinton River Basin Watershed Initiative
- The Clinton River Watershed Initiative (CRWI) is a two-year effort intended to integrate valuable existing Clinton River watershed information and generate easy-to-use tools that will promote coordinated decision-making and action. The goal of the CRWI Project is to give watershed stakeholders access to the information they need to identify and implement solutions that will improve, restore, and protect the Clinton River watershed. The CRWI Project will also produce an updated Clinton River watershed Remedial Action Plan (RAP) for the Area of Concerns Public Advisory Council. For more information, contact
