NOURISHED BY NATURE FUNDRAISING (CLOSED)

As we begin the 2023 field season, CRWC is motivated to increase in-person, experience-oriented outdoor programming for new audiences within the watershed to create a foundation for positive change and a commitment to a clean, healthy, and thriving watershed. Nourished by Nature is an experience-based outdoor series aimed at connecting people who have not had access to unique, place-based outdoor activities in the watershed.

CRWC is raising $5,000 to develop, market, and execute three unique events that will take place in May, June, and July, that include a mix of outdoor activities, ecological educational programming, wildlife viewing, and time for community members to engage with one another with a focus on providing outdoor experiences to new audiences and deepening CRWC’s presence across the watershed.

  • In May, a birding and hiking event in Eastpointe that provides residents with an opportunity to explore their neighborhood parks in a new way.

  • In June, a kayak adventure along the Salt River in Macomb County will help paddlers learn how to identify aquatic invasive species before stopping at a locally owned custard shop.

  • In July, a cycling trip along the Clinton River Trail in Oakland County will allow participants to view restoration projects and explore their environment before enjoying a light outdoor meal and translating their experiences onto canvas in an outdoor painting lesson with a local instructor.

This event series presents an opportunity for CRWC to expand engagement and educational experiences to reach more individuals and for you to help make meaningful outdoor experiences more accessible to more people within the Clinton River watershed.

DOLLAR-TO-DOLLAR DONATION MATCH

The David W. Elliott Memorial Foundation provided initial funding for the event series and has promised an additional dollar-to-dollar match for funds raised toward this series (up to $5,000). Your donation will allow CRWC to cover the costs of equipment, rent kayaks, and bikes, and remove other barriers to entry for participants. By supporting Nourished by Nature, you will be helping to connect new individuals to unique and interesting natural spaces along the Clinton River and provide them the opportunity to become new lifelong stewards of the outdoors.

During the 2023 Annual Meeting, CRWC supporters raised more than $2,700 for this series! Before May 18, we hope to raise the full $5000! Please consider supporting this program and make a contribution using the form below.
