Your whole family can join us to spend time outside, connect with nature, and identify local birds! CRWC is teaming up with partners to make birding more accessible.
Learn about the importance of bird surveys, birding and biodiversity, local songbirds, tree canopy covers, and how to identify different bird species before birding in the field.
Our guides will lead residents through natural and urban habitats, help spot and identify different bird species, and learn about their behaviors and habitats.
This hobby provides an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and diversity of the natural world, and it’s a great activity for families to bond over and create lasting memories, all while learning about different bird species.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
-
You will learn birding tips and tricks from local bird experts before venturing out with a guide to spot birds in the community.
-
Birding is a lifelong hobby that many people, from wildlife photographers to scouting groups, students to watershed residents, enjoy for years.
-
It can be hard to get started on a new hobby. How do you know how to identify birds? Are there resources you can use to help? What about equipment, what do you need to start?
Experts will lead you through the process of beginning this activity for the first time and enable you to continue to bird on your own after the event concludes. -
Did you know that there are more than 450 species of birds in Michigan? At this event, we’ll venture into the community and patiently search for as many local bird species as we can.
-
You don’t need to travel to spot interesting birds. It’s easy to go through your city and see the people, cars, buses, but have you ever stopped to notice how many birds are present, even in urban areas? During the event, participants will learn where to spot birds in developed areas.
Our guides will lead you through natural habitats, help you spot and identify different bird species, and learn about their behaviors and habitats. You’ll have the chance to ask questions and deepen your understanding of the world around you.
